Beer List -

Any tasting notes that appear against the beers are the personal opinions of the authors. If the authors disagree on any aspect then their initials appear before their individual opinion.

Bière de la Taverne (abbey style) 8% alc/vol

Tasting Notes - Very strange ! Very strongly fruity with a cloying tang, much like a British barley wine and having more than a passing resemblance to a fruit cup ! No hoppiness at all and only a touch of bitterness, leaving it with very little beer character and not much to distract you from the intense fruitiness. With the lack of any alcohol warmth it is dangerously drinkable if you can cope with the fruit and jammy sweetness.

Bière de la Taverne Ambrée 5.7% alc/vol

Tasting Notes - Full, quite fruity and multi-dimensional malt character which helps to offset the strong sweetness. Only lightly hopped with hardly any bitterness and an unusual softness making it easy to drink despite its strength. Some artificial notes come through in the finish.

Bière de la Taverne Blonde 5.1% alc/vol

Tasting Notes - Quite full but oversweet Blonde that cloys in the mouth and leaves a tangy, candied residue in the finish. Unimpressed.

St-Martin Blanche 4.5% alc/vol

Tasting Notes - Unspiced, quite cloudy and pretty thin. Refreshing but lacked character. Inoffensive and refreshing wheatbeer with a somewhat thin character and a bit more sweetness than many would expect.
