Beer List -

Any tasting notes that appear against the beers are the personal opinions of the authors. If the authors disagree on any aspect then their initials appear before their individual opinion.

11.1 - 11.1% alc/vol

Comments - Brewed overnight on 31st Oct/1st Nov. Named after 1st day of 11th month.

Blanche Hermine - 4% alc/vol

Comments - First brewed 1997.
Tasting Notes - As a Blanche one would expect to drink it with the sediment but this particular beer suffers if you do that. Without sediment it is a superb, multi-facted experience with beautifully clean tastes, with the sediment it is still good but the clarity is lost and many of the elements blend into each other to the extent that they are lost.

Bonnets Rouges - 5.5% alc/vol

Comments - First brewed 1999. Flavoured with elderberries.
Tasting Notes - An excellent beer - not overly fruity but really interesting. The fruit adds depth and an extra dimension without shouting "fruit beer" at you. The elderberries probably contribute to the bitterness and the slight tartness.

Cervoise Lancelot - 6% alc/vol View Label 6 Kb

Comments - First brewed 1990. Recipe includes 7 plants/herbs and honey. Intended to be in the traditional Gauloise beer style. The label shows Sir Galahad.
Tasting Notes - Intensely herbal beer with a gloriously complex character. The malt and hop base is pushed into the background by the multitude of herb and spice tastes that come to the fore throughout the immensely enjoyable experience that is this beer. It should be said that you need to be in the mood for a very complex beer to enjoy this to the full.

Duchesse Anne - 6.5% alc/vol View Label 7 Kb

Comments - First brewed 1996. Intended to be in the Trappist style.
Tasting Notes - Impressively hoppy blonde with all the right hop elements - floral fragarance, citric, bitterness from a pungent resiny hop. A solid malt supports the hops well though never threatens their domination. Adding interest is the use of honey. KR: In spite of being initially impressive it gets a bit sticky and tangily bitter.

Lancelot - 6% alc/vol View Label 8 Kb

Comments - First brewed 1996. Intended to be in the Trappist style.
Tasting Notes - Excellent texture adds further to the appeal of this impressively balanced beer with a pronounced hop character and well defined use of honey. Easy to drink, though it benefits from sipping, and very satisfying. KR: May be a little too tangy for some palates.

La Nuit de la Samhain - 11.1% alc/vol

Comments - Brewed on the night of 31st Oct/1st Nov for special events.

Pays de Cocagne - 5.5% alc/vol

Comments - Organic. The Cocagne region is a rural region in the center of Brittany.

Telenn Du - 4.5% alc/vol View Label 6 Kb

Comments - First brewed 1993. The sarrasin used is a local Breton variety called La Harpe and Telenn Du is Breton for Harpe Noir (Black Harp)
Tasting Notes - Initially the roasted bitterness is close to overpowering, only being lifted by the hops and licourice. Once used to this it becomes apparent that there is more to the beer and a honeyed sweetness eventually becomes prominent giving it a deeper, more satisfying quality. It has many Stout and Porter characteristics.
